What's in Your Freezer, Congressman?

Congress is not above the law and our Founding Fathers never intended to give crooked politicians "diplomatic immunity".  There are 3 branches of government so that one can always be the tie-breaker!  And in this case, 2 out of 3 branches are keeping the 3rd in check - that's how our system of government was designed, right?  The Louisiana Representative needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and of course his office can be searched if a judge signs a search warrant.  It's pretty arrogant of Congress to think they don't have to abide by the same rules that the people they represent are subject to.  I think most Americans, like myself, are outraged when anyone, especially an elected official tries to use the Constitution/some lame technicality to get away with a crime when there's a GREAT DEAL of evidence to suggest that he committed it. 

This guy was caught pretty much red-handed.  Why are the Republicans trying to give him a pass?  It makes it look like Hastert and other Republicans may be worried about what's in their freezers.  Rest assured, if the tables were turned, the Democrats would be trying to fry the Republican that was caught on tape accepting a $100,000 bribe and then found to have $90,000 in cash in his/her freezer.  Defending this dirtbag is a losing proposition - morally and politically.  American's like myself won't tolerate crooked politicians or those who defend them.

One reason our country is great is because our government does not tolerate corrupt officials.  That's what separates us from countries like Mexico.  I hope the politicians in Washington realize that government corruption will not be tolerated by the people of America.

The Dipsticks Forgot to Check the Oil

Here's a real simple explanation as to how we could become short on oil :)  It is my favorite email this week!

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country.  Well, there's a very simple answer.  Nobody bothered to check the oil.  We just didn't know we were getting low.  The reason for that is purely geographical.  Our OIL is located in:

• Alaska
• California
• Coastal Florida
• Coastal Louisiana
• Kansas
• Oklahoma
• Pennsylvania
• Texas

BUT our DIPSTICKS are located in Washington D.C. !!

Liberals Have No Class

The recent jeering of Arizona Senator and American veteran John McCain during a speech at a commencement ceremony at a New York college just goes to show that liberals have no class.  Condoleeza Rice is also being mistreated by some of the professors at a school where she agreed to give a commencement speech.

You never hear about conservative voters being this disrespectful to Democratic politicians because conservatives are bigger than that.  It's the same reason that you don't hear Republicans in Washington constantly whining like the liberals.  You might also notice that while the conservatives are working and trying to accomplish things, the liberals are just being obstructionists and trying to stand in the way of any progress the Republicans might get credit for.

In other words, the liberals are just plain immature!

No Bill Is Better Than a Bad Bill

When it comes to immigration, no bill is definitely better than a bad bill.  Just look back to the 1980's if you don't believe me.  President Bush is wrong with his "we can do it all - secure the border, guest worker program and give amnesty" approach. 

And the national guard troops he's sending...they're being set up for failure.  They're not sending anywhere near enough, so of course, now the military, not the President, will be blamed for failing to secure the border.  Smart move George.

I say NO amnesty and NO guest worker program until we KNOW the border is secure.  Because no bill is better than another bad bill.

Who's on First - the new version!

I had a lot of funny emails to choose from this week, so it was a hard choice.  But this one is my favorite:

George: Condi! Nice to see you. What's happening?

Condi: Sir, I have the report here about the new leader of China.

George: Great. Lay it on me.

Condi: Hu is the new leader of China.

George: That's what I want to know.

Condi: That's what I'm telling you.

George: That's what I'm asking you. Who is the new leader of China?

Condi: Yes.

George: I mean the fellow's name.

Condi: Hu.

George: The guy in China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The new leader of China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The main man in China!

Condi: Hu is leading China.

George: Now whaddya' asking me for?

Condi: I'm telling you, Hu is leading China.

George: Well, I'm asking you. Who is leading China?

Condi: That's the man's name.

George: That's who's name?

Condi: Yes.

George: Will you, or will you not, tell me the name of the new leader of China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he's dead in the Middle East.

Condi: That's correct.

George: Then who is in China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir is in China?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Then who is?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Look Condi. I need to know the name of the new leader of China. Get me the Secretary General of the U.N. on the phone.

Condi: Kofi?

George: No, thanks.

Condi: You want Kofi?

George: No.

Condi: You don't want Kofi.

George: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of milk. And then get me the U.N.

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi?

George: Milk! Will you please make the call?

Condi: And call who?

George: Who is the guy at the U.N?

Condi: Hu is the guy in China

George: Will you stay out of China?!

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi.

George: All right! With cream and two sugars.

Rot in Jail Moussaoui

Looks like Allah won't have any virgins waiting for convicted 9/11 co-conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui afterall.  Instead, he will spend the rest of his worthless life in a prison cell.  Ordinarily, I would expect the death penalty for a dirtbag like Moussaoui.  However, since he wanted to die a 'martyr' for the cause, I wish him a long, agonizing life in prison.

Gas Prices Should Be High

In order to help Americans with increased gas prices, our politicians are coming up with all kinds of ideas.  That's good, unless of course they are bad ideas.  And as usual, the Democrats have nothing but criticism and bad ideas, if any at all.

The Democrats want to repeal part of the gas tax to ease prices at the pump, temporarily.  I don't know how many cents per gallon they propose giving back, but either way it's a dumb idea because lower prices will only further increase demand while doing nothing about supply (which by the way is the problem!).  The price of gas is a symptom, it is not the problem.  Decreased supply, or the speculation of decreased supply is what is causing gas prices to increase and therefore, supply must be dealt with if we want a real solution.

The bottom line is that gas prices are high because our free marketplace is working properly, and I for one think that is a good thing.  No, I don't like paying more to fill up my car, but the prices are high because of a decreased supply (or speculation of decreased supply).  At the same time, demand for oil (a finite natural resource) is greater than ever.  That situation, in a free enterprise system, is supposed to result in higher prices, and you can't fix what's not broke.

So the solution must address future fuel supply, not current gas prices.  I support more drilling in the US, reduction in the number of blends and spending money on alternative fuels research as President Bush is talking about.  However, I fear it is only talk.

Border In-security

I REALLY hope the politicans in Washington don't screw up this illegal immigration thing any worse than it already is.  We have to secure the border FIRST and make sure it is really secured before agreeing to a guest worker program or path to citizenship for the illegals already here.  America does not need a repeat of the failed 1980's legislation.  Perhaps many people like myself would be satisfied with a waiting period to verify the successful securing of the border before the guest worker provision kicks in and before illegals get any officially recognized standing in our society.

I also disagree with the so-called "compromise that wasn't" whereas illegals that have been here less than 2 years are deported and those here over a certain number of years can apply for citizenship.  Nobody is going to admit they've been here less than 2 years and everybody will say they've been here long enough to apply for citizenship.  It is not verifiable in most cases and the government is just asking people to lie and take advantage of the new rule if passed.  It's a bad idea.  All illegals should have a LONG waiting/probationary period and financial penalties before they are eligible to apply for citizenship and then they should go to the back of the line.  And harsh penalties for future illegal entry to the US need to be enforced, and not just enforced on businesses.

As a disabled veteran and a small business owner who has NEVER hired an illegal, I resent the idea recently floated in the media that businesses are responsible for our immigration problem.  The crappy Mexican economy, the bleeding heart liberals and the spineless U.S. government need to accept responsibilty for our immigration problem.

The rule of law is what made our country great.  If we allow Mexico's lack of respect for law to continue flooding over into our borders, we must also be prepared to live with the consequences.  Would you like to live in a corrupt, impoverished country like Mexico?  I wouldn't.  But slowly but surely, we are headed there.  That's right, over time, the U.S. will become a crappy, corrupt, impoverished country if we don't put our foot down and demand that our laws and our sovereignty be respected.  SECURE OUR BORDERS NOW, TALK ABOUT GUEST WORKERS AND A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP LATER!
